Project Description
Built in 1900, 1354 York Street in San Francisco was originally a warehouse. Locals may recognize the mural by artist Nico Berry that once adorned the building, honoring its history as a mechanic’s shop and artist studio.
Following the building’s recent sale, city documents indicate that developers plan to replace the two-story structure with a three-story residential building. During the demolition process, The Lumber Baron salvaged approximately 6,000 board feet of high-quality 2x Douglas fir, diverting it from the landfill.
This York St reclaimed fir material is available in widths of 4″, 6″, 8″, 10″, 12″, and 14″. The lengths are extraordinarily long, with most ranging from 24′ to 26′. Rough in texture and measuring a full 2″ in thickness this wood is ideal for period-accurate additions, exposed joists, shelving, tabletops, and other custom projects.
